As a standards-based organization, CREST aims to ensure and maintain the highest possible standards of security testing by providing framework of guidance, including standards, methodologies and recommendations to its member. With CREST accreditation, the quality of the penetration testing services offered can be assured as the professionals need to undergo industry recognized examinations to test the skill knowledge and competency. Furthermore, the professionals must have a minimum of 6,000 hours of relevant and frequent experience to take the exam.

On the 18th of July 2017, business news publisher, The Edge, had reported the signing of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) between CREST and Association of Cyber Security Testers for Kuala Lumpur, Selangor and Putrajaya (PPKS). This memorandum has enabled the partnership between two organizations which provide greater assurance to clients of the quality of services rendered by CREST-certified penetration testers, benchmarked against international standards.
